Event Description

This event is an opportunity for people within and outside Government, who are developing programmes supporting local online projects, to tell each about their plans - and get some input from those working on the ground or in research.

We hope it will also be a chance for everyone to share practical
experience, and develop some ideas on how to blend new and older ways of communicating.

We have people attending at programme level from Communities and Local Government, Ministry of Justice, IDeA, Media Trust/Community Voices, Young Foundation, RSA, Talk About Local.

The agenda is flexible, as explained here

After introductions, we want to hear from programme leaders ... and then from others who want to propose a topic for discussion.

We'll break into groups, report back, and remix as necessary.

The opening presentations will be short - just two minutes - with a chance to expand in group discussions. A timer will be on the table!

If you want to make a two-minute presentation - as programme or topic leader:
* please add a comment below
* if possible offer us some content online before the day. This could be a link to your programme, a blog post on this site, or something for the wiki.

Thanks for organising this very interesting event. I am pretty new to this area and it was a great starting point.

Hi all who couldn't make it ... thanks for your nevertheless interest. It was a wholly voluntary effort, so we were limited in what we could do ... but did generate some tweets which you can see here. I shot some video of discussion summaries which I hope to get up tomorrow, and encourage others to post their reflections.

IMPORTANT!!

The event is taking place at the BIS office at Kingsgate House, and NOT 1 Victoria Street!

Kingsgate House is on Victoria St, but closer to the station. It's near the Sainsbury store.

Thanks William. On the development and ownership of government infrastructure, at local level, you may be interested in discussions around the local government knowlkedge hub, that I've reported here. One of the issues emerging is how far new systems for local government to provide information and share knowledge are likely to be open or closed ... and so how far they can easily aggregate with citizen-generated content. Ingrid Koehler and Steve Dale are the people to meet on that.
