I think there's some scope for European Alliancing as I've blogged here about the Media Coaches I met recently at a European conference.

I've been meaning to get this group going for some time after a blog post by me, Dominic Campbell and Kalv Sandhu.

But have been lacking a place to put the Alliance that was neutral and sustainable. And then this local ning came along run by David, Amy and Andy.

#TAL09 reaffirmed the need for a grouping of hyperlocal peeps. #TAL09 also said there was a need for some advice and guidance on how to govern local news. Some sort of code of practice to sign up to.

The discussion forum has a first stab at a local web news manifesto for debate - inspired by the Dogme95 manifesto . My aim is to have something simple yet meaningful that hyperlocal sites can sign up to to give an indicator to their approach to news. Go read it - only a few words - and then comment in the forum.
