Calling communities in Devon and Cornwall

Our Outreach Manager Kim will be visiting North Cornwall, West Devon and North Devon next week. If you’re in one of these areas and would like to talk about Community Voices, or if you have ideas for a media project you’d like to talk about, or even if you want to talk to us about what you’re already doing, then please get in touch.

We really want to make sure that we’re getting to all of the places that could benefit from Community Voices the most – and often those people are the hardest to find! So any help or suggestions you can give would be most appreciated.

You can email us at communityvoices@mediatrust.org

Thanks!

October Highlights

Digital Engagement Event

Community Voices recently presented a digital progress report to our funders, the department for Communities and Local Government. Along with a more detailed written report, the digital report highlights some of the key developments over the past month which includes the seminars we ran at the Digital Engagement Event on the 6th October (see below).

The seminars were designed to find out your views on how we can inspire, engage, and empower isolated communities. We split into four groups, each with a question to discuss. This is what people had to say:

Inspire: Vulnerable communities do not see the relevance of digital media to them. Why?

Empower: The process of using digital media is as empowering (if not more) than the outcome. Empower: If communities can access online and digital technology does that mean they’re empowered? Engage: How do we engage those communities that are hard to reach? These are a selection of the videos taken by David Wilcox from both the morning and afternoon session. To see the rest of the videos visit the playlist on YouTube

Hey all - I just did a blog post about my reflections on the report outs, getting to hear the key bits from all the conversations during the sessions. What was the result? The two most important things are TRUST and COMMUNITY - who knew :)

The post is on the network here.
