About

Talk About Local is a project to give people in their communities a powerful online voice. We want to help people communicate and campaign more effectively to influence events in the places in which they live, work or play.

A good, modern voice on the web can help communities communicate better, become more active and empowered. Community websites and forums make it easier for people to become involved in changing their area. The web can lower the barriers to finding basic information and make it easier to have your voice heard.

hi Phil, yes, we'll be trying to do that and of course the Twitter stream #tal10 should be busy, hope you'll join in wherever you are :)

This might be stating the obvious but it'd be good if there could be a comprhensive write up of whatever gets said in the #TAL10 hyperlocal unconference about alternatives to ning, etc. for those of us who won't be there.

Here's some film of happy people who attended a Talk About Local session in Kington Hererfordshire in August. Always good to see real folk talking about this stuff rather than geeks - town councillor, new internet user and a police sergeant

Hi all, just thought I'd mention, if anyone is interested in involvement with UKGC10 - (UKGovcamp, barcamp)- to take place in January 2010 - there's a Local (local communities) group within that (as well as the separate LocalGov group)
