How to match their Twitter followers to their customers/donors database or list?

Hi Everybody! This one needs some savvy techie help. Nonprofits are trying to match their donors to twitter users, but it is very time intensive. There must be an application or some easier way to do…

Anything you would like to say about you or your projects?
Hi Everybody,

My interest in the effective use of social media by nonprofits arose in conjunction with rethinking how I teach research methods. I wanted to change the focus from the siloed academic approach to a collaborative learning environment.

The question was what area lent itself to this way of teaching that would be interesting and engaging for my returning adult students? Social media became an obvious choice.

Social media is the general area from which students select a research topic and question. Narrowing this down to the effective use of social media by nonprofits matched my own research interests. It also is intended to get students thinking about the common good.

In addition to the area of interest I also wanted a field research for students. As part of the collaborative learning environment we now have three nonprofit organizations as learning partners. These nonprofits are trying to learn social media, and figure out how to use it, like all of us.

Students build their research around social media and apply it to working specifically with one of our nonprofit partners. Currently we have the development office of a medical school in Georgia, a nonprofit in India, and an art gallery in Alaska as learning partners.

We are using Social By Social as one of the texts for this course, and I am requiring that students join this network to give them access to subject matter experts in the field.

We look forward to earning a great deal from you. Thank you so much for your help.

I think Alaska is going to see less and less of you, being involved in SN the way you are ..
Cheers,
